Cooking with kids--wet and dry ingredients

My daughter loves this book.  It is one that we just happened to come across at a homeschool bookstore.  I love these kinds of books that teach the responsibilities of girls and ladies.  It has a lot of cooking, and the directions are so clear and understandable by my 8 year old.  We've had fun doing the weekly lessons, and most of it she can do herself.  This weeks lesson was on wet and dry ingredients and why you should mix them separately if the recipe calls for it (a great reminder, even for me!).

She made Apple cinnamon muffins this week:

Getting the dry ingredients together:

Sifting the dry ingredients (her new favorite kitchen tool: a sifter):

Mixing it all together:

Adding the wet ingredients mixed in a smaller bowl:

Now to get them in the muffin cups:

They came out beautiful!  She was very proud, and ate almost all of them herself.  I like the tall peaks, kind of funny!
