A little back story...
The boys have been asking to launch rockets for sometime now. I had never really done it before, but I knew Michele had when he was a kid, so I would say to them "Daddy will do it sometime, he's the rocket guy." Well, time passed and Aaron would pick up rocket kits at the store and ask if he could get them, to no end. Finally, the opportunity to go watch rockets launch came up, and then the boys were hooked. They both got a little rocket kit that day they went to watch, and were very excited to make and set those off. Those would be the 2 little orange ones below. Then, for valentine's day we got the boys each one other rocket to make. Now they have 4 rockets! These things seem to be multiplying now :-)
A family outing one evening...
With that said, the boys love to go launch their rockets. Even April thinks it's pretty awesome. So, one beautiful night a few weeks ago we packed everything up last minute, because it was so nice, to go launch some rockets! The moon set a nice back drop for our rockets...
They love their rockets, but they can be loud. In fact, Alex cries everytime. He's pretty sensitive to most sounds though. We'll have to put the ear muffs on him next time...
Getting the rockets ready (it was still pretty chilly even though it was clear)...
They don't take very long to set up...
okay, I guess it wasn't completely clear, but it wasn't raining, and the clouds made a beautiful sunset (love these moments with my family)...
It's very short, but here's a video with some of the launches. Those things shoot high! We almost couldn't see them until they came down a little.
Another fun hobby we have found to do as a family!
