Thanksgiving day

For the past 3 or 4 years we have started doing Thanksgiving at our house, and I decided this year that I really love it.  I love being home for Thanksgiving and it always turns out so peaceful and nice.  Sometimes it's just the 5 of us, Mommy, Daddy, and kids, but this year we got to have Grandma and Grandpa with us.  And, some of you might be surprised to know that we actually did a turkey this year.  Daddy smoked a turkey, and it turned out pretty yummy.  The past few years we have chosen to do some other kind of meat just because most of us don't really care for turkey.  But, most everything was very traditional this year.

I loved that the kids got to help a lot in the kitchen.  Grandma helped Aaron whip up some whipping cream.  He loved using the hand mixer.

April was helping me with the deviled eggs.  She peeled them so smoothly.  This is the girl that doesn't really like to eat eggs too!  She loves to cook though.

Aric helped too...helped lick the beaters, that is.

This is a weird picture of me, but it's the best one.  I didn't realize anyone was taking a picture!

April and Aaron set the table so beautifully.

Wait, lets get a close up of that turkey first...

Grandma helped the kids make these gumdrop turkey's while waiting for the food.  April made the place cards from one of her American Girl cookbook collections.

Aaron's gumdrop creation was a snake instead.

Finally, time to eat.  From left to right, April, Grandma, Daddy, Aaron, and Grandpa.  Poor little Aric fell asleep on the couch, he got tired of waiting.
