We did some nature study over the month of July at some different ponds. We went to 2 different ponds. One was a well kept beautiful neighborhood pond, and the other was a fishing pond that we discovered close to us.
Here's the neighborhood pond...
We loved the lilly pads, flowers, and different plants.
We learned how to draw a frog. Ignore the triangle shape running through Aaron's frog, it was a guide for him to make his frog shape and he couldn't erase it because he used marker. All the kids loved learning how to draw a frog.
Here are April's frogs.
This is the fish pond we found. It certainly doesn't have the same kind of beautiful plants growing naturally, but it was still a peaceful place to be.
We had a little more freedom to explore these ponds because they weren't part of a well kept neighborhood, so we brought jars to see what we could catch in the water. Guess what we caught (and threw back)....Fish!
It's hard to see, but do you see the tiny fish at the bottom of the jar. Aaron had a really hard time throwing his back, he wanted to keep it.
Aric loved holding the clipboard with our nature study guide, and paper to draw. He felt so important...
He was looking at the different things we should be finding at the pond.
I am so glad that we are getting back into our nature studies. We had a great time in our little study of the pond. We could have done a lot more, but it was summer and we were busy. The pond has so much to it!
